Eurasian Wren

A tiny, round brown bird with a short, cocked tail. Despite its size, it has one of the loudest songs in Europe. This powerful song is a burst of trills and whistles. It lives in almost every habitat, from sea cliffs to suburban gardens. It is a hardy resident species.

Wrens creep through thick undergrowth and stone walls like a mouse. They are highly territorial. The male builds several nests made of moss. He invites the female to choose one and line it with feathers. In winter, many wrens may huddle together in a single hole to stay warm.
